In woodland, in periodically inundated areas, along streams.

Biological form

Tree up to 15 m tall, terrestrial

Leaves

shape & colour

ovate to cordiform, coriaceous to subcoriaceous, apex acute, base obtuse to cordate, upper surface smooth or ± pubescent

 

size

4-24 x 3-24 cm

 

lateral veins

5-8 pairs, basal pair reaching margin at or above middle of the lamina

 

petiole

2-11 cm long, glabrous, sometimes white hirtellous

Stipules

1-3 cm long, lower part puberulous, caducous

Figs

position

solitary in the leaf axils, rarely on branchlets on the older wood

 

shape

subglobose to obovoid, Æ 4-8 cm (fresh), white to yellowish puberulous

 

peduncle

0.2-1.2 cm long
