Ficus thonningii - FigWeb

Ficus thonningii Blume 1836

Historically a range of closely related fig species have at various times been included under the name Ficus thonningii. Recently many of these entities were recognised once again as good species and raised out of synonymy with Ficus thonningii (Burrows & Burrows 2003). True Ficus thonningii is probably restricted to West Africa. Two widespread species in southern Africa (F. burkei and F. petersii) are commonly referred to as F. thonningii in the literature. The following species previously synonymised with F. thonningii are currently regarded as good species:
	Ficus burkei (Miq.) Miq.
	Ficus petersii Warb.
	Ficus persicifolia Warb.
	Ficus psilopoga Ficahlo
	Ficus rokko Warb. & Schweinf.

Distribution	Ficus thonningii is a West African species described from Ghana, but given the uncertainty about delimitation of the species it is not feasible to depict an accurate distributional range.
Biology	Pollinator unknown.
Habitat	Forest.
